Internship and Work Study Opportunities
Job Title: Intern
  • Part-time or full-time unpaid internship
  • Academic credit or work study positions are available
  • Minimum expected commitment is approximately 10 hrs per week for the full academic year (preferred) or semester.
  • Weekly hours and schedule are negotiable

SUMMARY
Austin Partners in Education creates and fosters effective community and school partnerships that provide all AISD students preparation for college and career. You can choose to intern for any of our Study Group volunteer programs:
College Readiness
Partners in Math
Compañeros en lectura
Partners in Reading
Partners in Literature
Partners in Technology
Mentoring
 

With each of these programs, an intern will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced nonprofit environment focused on promoting academic success for students in underserved communities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve at least one hour per week as lead classroom volunteer.
  • Provide administrative assistance as needed.
  • Provide consistent and professional communication with volunteers via phone and email.
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of trainings.
  • Assist with the planning and organization of volunteer recognition initiatives.
  • Make school deliveries and site visits as needed to monitor program quality.
  • Assist Coordinators with survey collection.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Interest in improving academic achievement for children in underserved schools.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to reliable private transportation.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communications with a demonstrated ability to make effective presentations.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Organizational skills and flexibility a must.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Internet Browsers.
  • ** Spanish written and oral fluency required for Compañeros en lectura Interns.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Open to current undergraduate and graduate students (college juniors or seniors or graduate students preferred). Experience in education or nonprofit environments a plus.
